Nova Scotia is just somewhere I have always wanted to go! First stop was St. John, New Brunswick (see related article). Next stop—Halifax!
Halifax is, after all, a destination of almost folklore boundaries. It conjures up images of the old mystic fishing town perhaps our own Cape Cod once was.
In fact, Halifax is still an old fishing village–but lined with million dollar condos up and down the waterway, and dotted with really cool storefronts. The port is rustic, part fishing, part navy, part shopping, part money.
The direction from the port is “up”. From here, we look upward to the giant citadel at the top of the hill. For no matter which direction you walk, from the port, you’re marching uphill–and a steep uphill, at that. We will chaulk it up to exercise.
The downward stare back to the harbor
I loved Halifax, and will go back. From New York, we can drive or set sail from New York City. This time, we chose the comfort of the cruise ship, but next time?
Will keep you posted.
