North Pole, NY, aka Santa’s Worskshop, is a magical place to visit in the heart of the Adirondacks. Although open from June onward, I have only visited there Christmas time.
Santa’s Workshop is as close to the real Santa I’ve ever been. And yes, it comes with a real zip code, and a real post office, where kids can actually write Santa or send Christmas cards and the envelope gets stamped, “North Pole”.
Hop on the train ride and chug around the park, past the live reindeer farm, and have the snow blowing in your face (Reminiscent of the scene from Polar Express!) Or visit the manger scene and numerous little shops. Along the way find open fire pits to warm your gloves on.
Watch for the elves! They announce when Santa is here, and will personally escort you to the fireplace in his private waiting room.
