Where do we find the world’s largest crayon? A demonstration on how crayon’s are made? Perhaps the wall of forgotten colors? (some renamed, like Indian Red)

The Crayola Factory, located about forty five minutes from Stroudsburg, Pa—in the heart of the Poconos—offers a day of magic for kids.

Every square inch is loaded with stations for arts, crafts, finger painting—everything to keep wee ones busy for hours, and not wanting to leave. In a way, it’s magical!

And to add to the magic, your ticket comes with special tokens usable in a series of little vending like machines filled with goodies. This machine will drop a little packet of crayons. The one next to it, a magic marker. Kids will love the surprises that come out.

Another station is on of the largest bins of crayons I have ever seen. Another has cut outs galore.

One of the highlights of the Crayola Factory is a demonstration. All the kids sit in a room and watch real crayon makers make crayons start to finish: Pour the wax, mix with color, bring to a point, wrap, and even box—the whole process, start to finish.

Another big draw:  The gift shop. The shop is massive—but it needs to be, because it’s home to the world’s largest crayon! But the store sells shirts and mugs and tons of crayons sets we’ve never seen before. The colors were incredible.

Afterward, upstairs is the National Canal Museum where kids can take boats and run them through a canal.

This was a wonderful experience, and we look forward to our next trip when we also hope to squeeze in Hershey!
